BLUE is a narrative short film about the masks we hide behind. It examines the illusion of perfection amplified by social media, which leads to missed opportunities of meaningful connection.

Director’s Note - Blue mirrors my own personal story of living with a rare bone disease. Ever since the impetus of social media, I wanted to hide any part of myself that was 'different'. In 2017 that changed. I made the choice to embrace vulnerability and created a video talking about my insecurities with my disease exposed. To my surprise, it instantly went viral. From the thousands of messages I received, I quickly learned that everyone has insecurities or things they fear. We are all the same. And that's what Blue explores, with a glimpse of how different life could be if we only took the time to realize it.

Owning our story can be hard, but not nearly as difficult as spending our lives running from it. Embracing our vulnerabilities is risky, but not nearly as dangerous of giving up on love and belonging and joy – the experiences that make us the most vulnerable. Only when we are brave enough to explore the darkness will we discover the infinite power of our light.”
